Price : £135.00 Publisher : Adam and Charles Black Published : 1906 Edition : 1st Edition Binding : Hard Condition : Very Good
A very good copy of this volume of the twenty shilling series. There is some localised wear at corners and to the projecting spine joints and some patchy loss of the overprinted Mackintoshy/Alhambrish design, but no fading or darkening of the blue-based cover. Inside, there is the usual darkening of the endpapers, which has browned the facing first and last pages of the book block itself, which includes the advert leaves at the back. Very light foxing of fore-edges. Not fine, but an acceptably very good survival.

386 An Album of Photographs of Malta and Port Said, 1913 - [None]
Price : £60.00 Publisher : Kodak binding Edition : F Binding : Hard
A beautifully presented record of a Mediterranean voyage, towards the Suez Canal, "Sailed from Tilbury, May 3rd. 1913" on board the P&O ship S.S. Sardinia. The album contains 48 60X104 mm. photographs, sepia, + 1 loose. Many are shortly and stylishly captioned in white on the dark mounting card, notably "As soon as these women saw my Kodak they turned away at once & I had to hide behind Mother's sunshade to get these two photographs." The photographer was probably Evelyn Dawes or Ferguson perhaps of Wokingham (Family memories can be short, particularly when you finish up as an aunt.) One caption is "Battle Ships at Malta During the War" - which war?? The Malta pictures are somewhat foggy but show for instance the Boom and various warships and harbour scenes. There are some excellent street scenes in Port Said. The binding is a Kodak Series H. Album, half dark green leather, gilt titled and ruled and grey-green buckram; very handsome.
